Code of ethics.
Last updated: 2026-05-11
1. What we believe
bbuddy automates social media posting on behalf of brands. Automation at scale is powerful, and power without rules is bad for everyone. This code is the explicit set of rules we hold ourselves to and the ones we ask customers to hold to when using the product.
2. Customer commitments
By using bbuddy you agree not to:
- Use the product to publish disinformation, manipulated facts, or content designed to deceive
- Run coordinated inauthentic behaviour (bot rings, fake personas, fake reviews)
- Target individuals with harassment or threats
- Publish content that violates the rules of the connected platform (Meta, X, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Use the product to advertise illegal goods or services in your jurisdiction
- Post content that exploits or endangers children
- Impersonate other brands, public figures, or institutions without authorisation
Violations may result in suspension or termination of your bbuddy account, and we will cooperate with platform takedown requests where appropriate.
3. Our commitments to customers
- Human in the loop by default: Review mode is the default for every new account. Auto mode is opt-in, never silently enabled.
- No surprise AI training: We do not train shared models on your library, drafts, or social content.
- Clear data deletion: When you delete your account we wipe your data within 30 days, except where legal retention applies.
- Transparent changes: Pricing, feature, and policy changes are announced before they take effect, not silently.
- No dark patterns: Cancellation is one click in the billing portal. We do not hide it, gate it, or add a retention dance.
- Real people on support: Support is staffed by humans during EU business hours. We do not route critical issues to chatbots.
4. Our commitments to platforms and the broader internet
- We respect the API terms and posting limits of every platform we connect to
- We never scrape platforms outside their authorised APIs
- We do not engineer around rate limits or bypass anti-spam systems
- We honour platform takedown requests and user reports promptly
5. AI specifics
bbuddy uses third-party large language models to draft posts and generate images. We hold the following positions:
- AI outputs are drafts, not authoritative content. Customers are responsible for what gets published.
- We disclose AI involvement when asked, on press, and in our documentation.
- We refuse to generate content that depicts real public figures in harmful or misleading scenarios.
- We refuse to generate content that targets a private individual without their consent.
- When models update or change behaviour, we communicate the change to customers.
6. Working with vendors
We choose vendors whose terms, practices, and infrastructure align with this code. If a vendor's behaviour conflicts with our commitments to customers, we replace the vendor rather than soften the commitment.
7. Reporting a breach
If you believe bbuddy or one of its customers is violating this code, write to [email protected] with the subject "Ethics report". We investigate every report and respond within one business day, EU hours. Whistle-blowers will not be retaliated against.
8. Changes to this code
We update this code as the product, the platforms, and the regulatory landscape change. Material changes are announced to active customers in advance. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
